Docs For Mac

Keeping paper documents proves to be a challenge in terms of finding the storage space and keeping all the sheets in order. Docs enables you to digitalize your documents archive by scanning all types of paper files and organizing them into different categories.

You can use Docs to scan invoices, tickets, receipts, pictures or any other type of information that is displayed on a sheet of paper. To do that, you must specify the scanner you want to use (must be connected to your Mac), the image resolution and the output file format.

By default, Docs is creating JPG2000 files, but you can easily change the scanner import format from the Preferences window to JPG, PNG or PDF. The app also enables you to import files that are already stored on your Mac: from the Preferences you must specify if you want to copy, move or simply create a link to the original file.

Other customization options include the fact that you can change the background style using one of the 6 available themes and the possibility to adjust the default thumbnail size.

Docs allows you to organize your files into user set up categories and you can view the items included in each folder in thumbnail or list mode.

However, to actually be able to add new documents you must also set up an event. This way, the files will also be organized by date. In the text box placed under the documents panel you have the possibility to store your notes for each event.

To sum up, Docs provides an organized environment for quickly scanning and cataloguing your paper documents. Keep in mind that you must create both categories and events to be able to import files: this might not be obvious at first glance and, unfortunately, the app does not offer any documentation.
