Dioretsa is, simply put, a PDF viewer with tabs. The application also includes a panel for browsing the contents of the PDF as thumbnails for each page or as outlines for each chapter. Dioretsa comes with basic functions such as searching, zooming in / out and page navigation buttons.

The greatest benefit of using Dioretsa is, of course, reading multiple documents at the same time in different tabs and switching between them very easily. Moreover, a toolbar at the top of the PDFs provides a drop-down menu to quickly select a document. Tabs can be easily closed using the “X” button, of course.

Just like Apple’s integrated image and PDF viewer, Preview, the Dioretsa app can display the contents of a document as image thumbnails or as an outline. In addition to this, Dioretsa provides a versatile search function, called “Find the Word”, that lists the position and hit count of any word.

Other options include changing the default scrolling behavior: single page (simple and continuous) and two page (simple and continuous). What’s more, you can read your documents in full-screen mode because Dioretsa supports this feature that appeared in OS X Lion.

For the most part, the application does not quite bring anything new to the PDF viewer category of software. Besides the tab support, Dioretsa has a long way to go until it can match Preview and other popular PDF reading solutions for OS X. However, if you like having tabs in a PDF viewer, you should try this app.
