Working with hotkeys can significantly reduce the time you need to spend certain tasks, especially when dealing with repetitive actions. CheatSheet is a small app that can help you identify all available keyboard combinations based on the currently active app.

The CheatSheet app runs in the background so it will not take up any space unnecessarily: when you want to see its interface, all you have to do is hold down the Command key until the panel becomes visible.

At the same time, to hide the CheatSheet window again, just release the Command key. This approach proves to be very user friendly since you don’t have to memorize a complicated key and toggle the app’s visibility in a matter of seconds.

Via the CheatSheet Settings menu you also get to adjust the delay period when holding down the Command key. Having a longer period is advisable if you also use the key with other keyboard combinations, especially ones that include multiple keys so it takes longer to form them.

Worth mentioning is that the information included in the CheatSheet panel changes depending on the utility that is currently active. The app keeps the keys organized by category, such as File, Edit, View, Go, Window, Screenshots, and so on.

In the CheatSheet list of hotkeys, you get to see the keys that have to be hold down together, and the action that will be triggered by the combination. For your convenience, via the CheatSheet Settings menu you also get to send the entire sheet to the printer.

Bottom line, CheatSheet offers you an alternative solution for finding the hotkeys supported by the currently selected app. Instead of going through the app’s menus or settings panel, you can have all the data displayed in an organized manner, at the press of a button.
