Printing and binding a booklet is pretty simple, provided the document has already been prepared beforehand. Pages need to be reordered to allow you to stack and staple them as they come out of the printer, and there are apps that can do that for you.

BookletCreator is a simple name for a fairly simple app. It takes PDF files and reorders the pages to create booklets that are ready for printing. It’s easy to use and includes some basic customization options.

To begin with, import one or more documents, which you can do with drag and drop. You’ll be able to specify which pages or page ranges should be included from each file. If you like, you can also split a document into multiple booklets.

Paper size is handled automatically by default, namely twice the width of the first page. This can be customized, with the ability to select any orientation and paper size, as well as manual scaling.

If you’re happy with your settings, start the process. The pages in the original document will be exported in a different order in the resulting PDF file. Once the pages are printed, just stack, fold, and staple them together, and you’ll have your booklet.

There are a few more options to customize, depending on the type of booklet you’re creating. You can add page numbers, set the last page as the back cover, account for duplex printers, rotate landscape pages, or change page direction for right-to-left languages.

While a large-scale publisher may want more automation options and fine-tuning, BookletCreator is an excellent tool for personal or small-scale professional use. It has all the features most users will need, it’s very intuitive, and it’s not too expensive either.
