Knowing what time it is in different countries might be important if you have friends or family living in another country. You don’t want to wake them up at 4 A.M just for a chit-chat.

Different time conversion tools (for bot the desktop and online) exist to help you find out what time it is in a city from the other end of the world. BigBen is designed to provide quick access to the date and time in different cities in the world from a compact user interface.

BigBen provides support to no more than 285 cities which can be selected from the drop down menus of each city in the main window.

The main window of BigBen displays the entries of a number of selected cities (that can be configured from the preferences), the date as well as the current time. You can also choose to sort the timers by city, city / nation or GMT.

Also from the Preferences window, you can adjust the date settings, the time format and the colors. An additional option allows you to set the app’s behavior at start-up: normal or floating.

The normal / floating status of the main window can also be toggled from the View menu or by hitting the CMD + Y keyboard shortcut. In the next menu, called Utilities, you can set a new location or set the daylight saving time.

As an added bonus, BigBen shows red and gray bullets on the left of the city entries. The red bullet are for locations whose DST is enforced at present and the grey bullet is for locations whose DST is not enforced at present.

To sum up, the application provides a simple and reliable solution to check the current time in the cities of your choice while occupying minimal screen space and resources.
