An open source catalog software and library management suite that integrates professional level tools into an user friendly GUI.. #Catalog manager #Library management #Manage catalogs #Library #Catalog #Database
BiblioteQ is designed to provide professional level cataloging and management tools for organizing and managing your large books collections, and media libraries.
The app can connect to PostgreSqL and SQLite database servers, but can also employ specific protocols to download metadata for various collection entries.
Thanks to its well organized user interface, finding your way around the BiblioteQ app proves to be fairly intuitive: the top and left side toolbars provide buttons for frequently used functions, while the main area displays a list with all your database entries, together with the available details and associated artwork.
Note that BiblioteQ offers you the possibility to organize your items into various categories: books, DVDs, Journals, Magazines, Music CDs, Photos, or Video Games. BiblioteQ keeps multiple smart folders: all entries, all available, all overdue, or all reserved.
To get things started, you must either connect to an SQL database, or start a new one from scratch. BiblioteQ comes with input panels personalized for each type of item that will help you store a considerable amount of info about each book, magazine, DVD, and so on.
To reduce the time spent on adding data to your database, you can simply input the ISBN codes and BiblioteQ will try to go online and download the metadata, by making use of the SRU and Z39.50 protocols.
BiblioteQ also comes with a members management tool that enables you to keep track of all the people that borrow books and other types of media items from your collections. The BiblioteQ app can also keep track of reservations, check the item’s availability status, and so on.
