BestRes For Mac

We are sure that most of you appreciate that special place from OS X where all the little and lightweight utilities reside, commonly known as the “menu bar” or “status bar”. No doubt, our stack of little menu bar apps make living with OS X a lot better, as they tend to always be within our arm’s reach, to provide useful services, all while never really getting in our way.

One of those useful applications is BestRes, a streamlined and minimalist application that makes it as simple as possible for you to quickly change your Mac’s screen resolution with fewer clicks that it would be otherwise necessary by accessing the System Preferences.

In order to change your screen resolution the normal way, you must open the System Preferences app, click the Display menu, within the Display tab check the Scaled option, and simply choose one of the available resolutions. In a simpler manner, BestRes enables you to perform the same action, only with half the number of mouse clicks: two instead of four.

Plainly speaking, and there’s really no getting around it, all you get is a small OS X app, that once installed will seamlessly integrate itself into OS X’s status bar, and it will enable you to switch your screen resolution with two simple clicks, nothing more, nothing less.

Even though we are really big fans of small and efficient menu bar apps, we must point out the lack of a "Run on startup" option that would make BestRes an even better time saver.

Taking all things into consideration, there really isn’t much to be said about BestRes, except the fact that it does its job well. In the end, if you have to ask yourself why would you need it, then you clearly don’t.
