In spite of the fact that computers have become more and more dependable, you can still lose all your data quite easily: all it takes is a hard-drive failure, an operating system glitch, or simply a virus.

Taking this into consideration, backing up your files is probably one of the most, if not the most, important things that you can do to keep your data safe. From all the backup methods, without doubt, cloud and online backups are the best.

But, despite this, the traditional and manual backup on hard-drives or other external devices has some noteworthy advantages (easy, inexpensive, quick, you can take it wherever you go, etc.) that can’t be overlooked.

Designed with extremely cautious users in mind, Growly Backup is a streamlined and easy to use application that makes it simple for you to manually backup your important data on thumb drives, on external hard-drives, or on your Mac’s hard-drive partition.

One thing you should know before using Growly Backup: the application cannot perform backups if the drive in question has other files on it. In other words, you must provide Growly Backup with a clean and empty storage unit in order to take advantage of its capabilities.

Due to its user-friendly interface, getting to grips with the application should not be close to  difficult for anyone. To backup your files with Growly Backup, you must select one ore more files or folders, specify for what exact files you don’t need backing up, choose an empty storage device to backup on, and simply click the Backup button on the lower right corner of it’s main window.

Restoring your backed up files is done in a similarly easy manner, you just use the Finder and drag and drop the backed up files back onto your start-up disk.

By now, it is clear that the app wasn’t designed to replace the automatic, online, and cloud backup services, but to provide an extra precaution for safely keeping your files. Growly Backup might just be the software solution you are looking for if you want to backup your data manually on external drives.

What's new in Growly Backup 1.4.3:

  • When identifying folders whose Finder attributes (tags, hidden extension, etc.) needed to be updated, Backup included many folders that actually didn’t need to be updated.
