Autoplot requires you to give it an URL, in order to create the plot. It makes it easier for you to browse data stored in formats like nc and cdf, among others.
On top of that, Autoplot comes with an attempt to allow data plotting from multiple sources, such as OpenDAP servers and local files.
Each database is identified using URIs and uses a module in order to load data to the internal data model.
This data is after that displayed simply by guessing the method used for rendition, in order to provide you with an useful and reasonable view of data.
The application users wildcards which makes it easier for you to aggregate data from multiple files.
It allows you to read CDF files and display metadata in a snap, if needed.
Autoplot is developed using the Java programming language and can be run on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.
