Setting up reminders for various events is a great idea, especially if you have a busy schedule. However, your notifications should not become yet another annoyance. Arise is a small Mac app that allows you to use your iTunes music library when scheduling alarms.

Arise resides in your status bar, so it is out of your way at all times, but it also provides quick access to most of its features: you get to create new alarms and timers in no time. In addition, the Arise main window also includes a stopwatch.

Effortless to install solution for setting up event alerts

Like with many other OS X utilities, the Arise installation procedure is reduced to dragging and dropping the application to your disk. Arise also comes with a main window where you can see a list comprising all defined alarms and timers, but accessing that panel is not necessary: you can simply use the menu.

The best part is that Arise integrates with your iTunes, so you get to set up your favorite playlist as an event alert. In addition, Arise is able to stream content from a website, play movies, open a picture, and more.

Comprehensive notifications system with highly customizable alerts

Noteworthy when it comes to Arise is the fact that you have a lot of options when it comes to the notification method: you can choose to play specific media content, or enable the system alert sounds.

Moreover, Arise is able to grab photos or screenshots, show visual messages, flash the menu bar icon, send a text message, launch a website, run AppleScripts, execute shell commands, and more.

Simple yet powerful solution for triggering custom event alerts, timers, and more

Arise is a great notification system that can be used to launch specific actions, on top of the classic audio and visual alerts. All in all, if you are looking for a simple tool that can help you stay on top of your tasks, Arise certainly deserves your attention.
