Reveals hidden OS X features. #System tweak #Clean cache #System maintenance #Tweaker #Cleaner #Maintenance
The rapid growth and advancement of the IT universe came with faster, smarter solutions in regards to both hardware and software. Higher frequencies, bigger caches, increased storage capacity, and many others. All was done with the purpose of smoothing out the activity at hand, be it for casual, home or professional use, and here we refer to both light usage and heavy load.
But, even so, maintaining this level of high performance remains as important as the technological breaktroughs in the first place. Both an advanced user and a dilettante experience the necessity to tweak their system into being snappy and reliable. Aside from that, with the passing of time, all systems are hindered by settings and shortcuts, thumbnails, cookies, browser history, leftover files, crowded caches that need a breather.
As an all-in-one-solution, iTweax steps up wanting to deliver thorough cleansing and tweaking choices.
A welcoming screen informs you that full admin rights are required, and also recommends to use the latest updates of Mac OS X, for which you are presented a few simple instructions.
After downloading and running it, iTweax recommends the backing up of selected .plist files at the first launch, in the eventuality of a system restore in the future.
Once you start looking around, you'll notice 4 major tabs: “Maintenance”, “Tweaks”, “Cleaning” and “Restore”. Their descriptions are revealed in tooltips on mouse-over.
The interface comes as a pleasant surprise: rich in features and options, yet neatly arranged, minimalistic and pleasant to the eye. It's a joy to operate, especially considering that if something goes wrong, you can always revert the changes by restoring the system to the way it was, with the help of the initial backup.
You have a choice of three maintenance scripts, each with their own purpose and complexity. Transparency is assured, as you can see what the changes occur to your system, using the log files and result screens.
As for system restore, you can do it either by the initial backup prior to running the application for the first time, or the initial system defaults that only remove the tweaks. It's also possible to overwrite backup files and create newer restore points. It should be noted that several of these processes take some time and resources, requiring the Mac to close all other applications and fully focus on iTweax. After that, a mandatory restart brings your system to the desired state back in no time.
Not only that, but it offers you the possibility to mingle with settings in regards to Dock, Safari, Quicktime, Finder, just about every significant portal and part of your OS, and even miscellaneous. You feel like a nimble geek octopus at a command center.
ITweax behaved commendably. With its wide range of possibilities, extended tweaking and cleaning potential, you can effortlessly find a place for it in any system, regardless of the needs and environment.
