Wimoweh for Mac
Wimoweh is an uncomplicated Mac OS X status bar app that scans your computer to determine all installed applications, and then enables you to modify the sleep permissions in each case. The app does not require user interaction, so after the initial adjustments, simply runs in the background.
Control your Mac’s sleeping permissions via a status bar menu app
Within the Wimoweh main window you can see a list with all the app’s installed on your computer. Each item in the list has two check boxes: one for making use the computer will never sleep while the utility is running, and one to specify if the display will sleep to preserve energy. Note that the same rule applies to running processes.
All in all, finding your way around the Wimoweh application is quite easy: the app’s window is well organized and most functions are self explanatory. The same area allows you to see the PID code for each app, the average CPU usage, and allows you to setup a going to sleep timer.
Simple but powerful software solution for adjusting your Mac’s behavior when it comes to activating the sleep function
Wimoweh proves to be an efficient solution if you need to make sure your Mac is not going to sleep mode while a certain app is running. However, you have the option to allow the display to go to sleep, so you can make sure the computer continues working on a certain task, while preserving as much energy as possible.
Furthermore, via the Wimoweh Settings panel, you can choose to have the computer always active for certain network services, or if the average CPU is above a certain level for a specific time period. Other customization options include the possibility to change the color mode for the app’s status bar icon.
