Customize the OS X El Capitan System Integrity Protection configuration in order to install the operating system on your Hackintosh. #Configure SIP #El Capitain SIP #Install El Capitain #SIP #System #Integrity
By default, Mac OS X is intended to run only on machines produced by Apple, in order to guarantee certain standards when it comes to performance and reliability.
However, one can run the OS on non-Apple hardware, as long as the architecture follows certain compatibility guidelines.
The latest Mac OS X version, El Capitan, comes with a new security policy embodied by the System Integrity Protection function. In short, this function prevents the modification of system binaries and running processes even in root mode. As a result, the system can be altered only by software updates and by the system installer.
In consequence, Hackintosh machines will not be able to run properly on El Capitan without deactivating the System Integrity Protection function. SIPUtility is a minimalist OS X app that can help you do that in no time.
Within the SIPUtility main window, you can see a list with all the System Integrity Protection flags that can be easily activated or deactivated. All you have to do is change the status of the associated check box.
Most of these parameters have self-explanatory names and allow you to run untrusted KEXT, unrestricted FS, tasks for PID, kernel debuggers, to use unrestricted DTRACE and NVRAM values, or to modify Apple internal processes.
SIPUtility allows you to create custom configurations, but also integrates a preset created by the developer, and can return the value of each parameter to the default. Note that to actually modify the SIP configuration, you must restart your machine.
For Hackintosh users, deactivating El Capitan’s SIP system is imperative to be able to install and run all the additional software required to run the OS on a non-Apple machine.
SIPUtility helps you deal with this task in no time, via a user-friendly graphical user interface. On the down side, the application offers very limited information about the parameters that will be changed.
