Picture Rescue For Mac

Media cards or USB drives are great for storing or transporting image files, but these mediums are subjected to possible errors, or can be accidentally erased. Picture Rescue is a simple Mac OS X application that enables you to scan them and recover pictures that have been erased or corrupted.

When working with Picture Rescue, most of the user interaction is performed via the app’s main window: here you can see a list of all detected cards, test them for errors, or scan them for images. At the same time, you also have the possibility to format or secure format the currently selected drive.

If Picture Rescue does not detect a certain drive on its own, you can easily add it manually via the “File” menu. The app provides only one other customization option: in the Preferences window you can decide if you want to view image thumbnails or not.

To get started with Picture Rescue, you must select the drive you want to analyze and press the “Scan” button placed on the bottom area of the app’s main window. Picture Rescue will examine the disk and then provides a list with all the detected image files.

You can see the list in icon or list mode, visualize the image thumbnail, and access general information about the files, such as the name, size, dimension, or creation date. Select the ones you want to extract and then simply press the “Recover” button: Picture Rescue takes care of the rest.
