Take full control of disks like external hard-drives, SD cards and flash drives that are trying to mount on your system with the help of this preference pane. #Block disk mount #Mount disk blocker #Disk blocker #Blocker #Restriction #Mount
Mount Keeper is a straightforward and simple system utility that integrates itself in the System Preferences app and blocks disk mounts.
Not only this, but this small preference pane detects any attached disks like SD cards, USB drives, and external hard-disks and can also mount them as normal or as read-only.
Being a preference pane, you will have to go through a simple and intuitive installation process. Once the installation process is completed, Mount Keeper will make itself noticed in the System Preferences app.
The application will be locked by default, so each time you want to fiddle about with its settings, you will have to input your system credentials. Within its simple interface, you can disable or enable the utility, uninstall it, or program it to send a notification each time a disk is trying to mount.
This said, Mount Keeper provides you with three options when disk devices are about to mount, namely “refuse to mount”, “mount as read-only”, and “ask for choice”. If you choose the “ask for choice” option, you should know that authentication is required each time you want to mount a disk device.
Taking all things into consideration, if you are the type of user who needs to have total control over what external drives, flash disks, or SD cards mount on your Mac, then Mount Keeper is the way to go, because not only does it block their mount, but it is also smoothly integrated into OS X’s System Preferences app.
