Change the opacity and tint of your menu bar, with customization options for three different sections, any color option, and even on-hover conditions. #Menu Bar Opacity #Menu Bar Transparency #Menu Bar Color #Menu Bar #Opacity #Tint
With the release of macOS Big Sur, your only menu bar option became a translucent one, which not everyone was happy with. If you have a bright background, for instance, the menu bar looks unusually bright with a maximized window open.
Menu Bar Tint can resolve that issue to an extent. It allows you to add a tint to the menu bar, either to make it darker or change its hue. You can customize the top, center, and bottom of the bar, and opacity can change when your mouse cursor is hovering over it.
The process is very straightforward. The bar is split into three sections, and you can apply a tint to each one separately. A standard color selector is used for this purpose, and you can either use black or add some color to counter the effect of the background image.
The downside is that everything in the menu bar is tinted, including the text and icons. I suppose there’s no getting around this limitation unless you happen to be working at Apple, so it’s a drawback we’ll have to live with.
Aside from using different tints and opacity levels for each of the menu bar’s sections, you can also define how settings change when the mouse is hovering over the bar. This gives you quite a bit of flexibility, even allowing you to make a completely opaque menu bar that becomes visible when you place the cursor over it.
After setting everything up, you can close the configuration window. The app will run in the background and will not be visible in either menu bar or Dock. To change your settings, simply launch it again. You’ll need to manually add it to your login items to keep your configuration after rebooting.
Menu Bar Tint is a fairly good solution to the translucent menu bar issue, but there’s only so much a third-party app can do. As long as you can live with menu bar text and icons also being tinted, it will do the job.
