Simple clipboard manager that provides access to past clippings and includes a hotkey-activated tool for navigating and pasting them. #Clipboard Manager #Clipboard History #Clipboard Extender #Clipboard #Paste #Clip
Until a clipboard history manager is added to macOS, we’ll still have to rely on third-party tools. Thankfully, there are plenty of those to go around.
Jumpcut is one of the oldest, having been around for more than fifteen years. It’s relatively simple as far as clipboard managers go, but no less useful. It gives you access to all text previously copied to the clipboard, with an easy way to paste it anywhere.
As with any clipboard manager, one of the biggest advantages is that you won’t lose anything when replacing what’s in your clipboard. Sure, it may not be ideal for privacy, but that’s an acceptable sacrifice in this case.
To find something you’ve sent to the clipboard at any point, just click the app’s menu bar icon. Only the first ten items are listed by default, but up to 99 are remembered. If you click one of them, Jumpcut will attempt to paste it in your current app.
A slightly more advanced method involves using the pop-up bezel, which is activated via ⌘ ⌥V (customizable). Once the bezel is on your screen, hold down the modifiers and use the arrow keys, V, or number keys to navigate through the stack or select items.
As with selecting them from the menu bar, when you release the modifiers, the selected clipping will be pasted in the frontmost app. This behavior can be changed, along with various other options. For instance, you can make the bezel ‘sticky’, which will require pressing Return or Esc to paste an item or cancel the action.
Jumpcut has always been a straightforward clipboard manager, and it remains so to this day. It’s easy to get your head around, free, and open-source. My one complaint is that the bezel looks a bit outdated, and it takes up a bit more screen space than necessary. But if that's not a problem, the app should serve you well.
