editor's review

ExactScan is a powerful and flexible Mac OS X application that comes with over 400 different drivers for document scanners manufactured by Canon, Xerox, Kodak, HP, Visioneer, Oki, Fujitsu and Avision.

A versatile scanning solution for everyday use

Beside offering drivers for scanners which otherwise will not work with Mac computers, ExactScan also helps you work with various scanners with TWAIN drivers as a result of the TWAIN support.

From ExactScan’s main window you have access to numerous scanning profiles that you can use to scan different types of documents. Moreover, you can create your own profile and adjust the settings of the existing profiles with just a couple of mouse clicks.

Create your own scanning profiles with ease

As follows, you can name the profile, create your own file naming rule and set the output path for the scanned files. On top of that, ExactScan helps you choose the file format between PDF, JPEG, TIFF, PNG, BMP and PNM.

At the same time, you have the option to adjust the quality level and select the default application for opening the scanned files. The Basic Settings tab enables you to choose the source of the scanned pages, change the color spectrum and scan resolution.

Easily change the scan settings and preview results

Furthermore, you can change the page size and rotate it clockwise or counterclockwise, change the blank page detection sensitivity or turn it off altogether. More demanding users can access the Advanced Settings to adjust the brightness, contrast, gamma, hue, saturation and lightness.

ExactScan is capable to reduce the print moiré patterns, sharpen the image, optimize and smooth uniform colors, invert image and remove page border and shadow. With the help of ExactScan’s side panel you can preview the page before initiating the scanning process.
