Storing duplicate files on your Mac is both a waste of space, and a nuisance when you need to find a specific document. Decloner is a user friendly macOS utility that can help you identify duplicate files, and streamlines the removal process.
Thanks to its no-nonsense interface, finding your way around the Decloner application proves to be quite intuitive: in the top area you can see a list with the locations that will be scanned, while on the bottom you can view the files that have duplicates, and select the ones you want to remove.
For your convenience, Decloner allows you to scan multiple directories at the same time, and can automatically detect the iPhoto or Aperture libraries. Decloner can memorize recently used locations.
Noteworthy is that, via the Decloner Preferences window you can tweak the scanner’s performance by adding ignore filters: this way, the file names that contain a certain keyword will not be included in the results list.
Decloner automatically groups together duplicate files, displays details about the currently selected file, and allows you to open the containing folder in a Finder window. This way you can easily check the source location for each file, and decide which one should be deleted.
Since Decloner is able to work with various types of files, you will be able to clean your photo collections, you music library, documents archives, and so on. Moreover, note that the files will not be deleted instantly: Decloner will initially send them to a staged area, and offers you the possibility to put them back if you changed your mind.
To conclude, Decloner proposes efficient solutions for cleaning your Mac’s drive by eliminating the duplicate files, regardless of their type. The utility is featuring a rather streamlined workflow that will help you get the job done in no time.
What's new in Decloner 1.6.3:
- Fixed partial file name filters. For example, if you add a filter ".jpg", files that have the string ".jpg" anywhere in their file name will be skipped during scan.
