  IMPORTANT NOTICE

BlueHarvest is the solution for everyone who wants to have a metadata-free macOS by automatically removing the “DS_Store” and “._AppleDouble” files from your system with little to no effort on your behalf.

The BlueHarvest app does that same thing for other non-Mac storage devices such as UBS disks, digital cameras and music players, network disks, as well as any other kind of disk or folder.

BlueHarvest integrates itself seamlessly into your macOS system and allows for a quick and simple usage. For example, if one wants to scan and clean a specific folder or storage device, all he must do is right-click the target and select “Clean using BlueHarvest” from the Services menu.

Versatility and accessibility that enables you to clean and unclutter your macOS

BlueHarvest is also capable to also clean archive files of Mac metadata files, with the added advantage of not needing to first expand them to get to the troublesome “._AppleDouble” or “DS_Store” items.

The BlueHarvest utility automatically removes not only all kinds of “AppleDouble” and “.DS_Store” files, but also “.fseventsd” folders, “.Spotlight-V100” folders, “.TemporaryItems” folders, “.Trashes” folders and files that match a Unix wildcard string like “*.foobar”.

One advice of caution, however: some applications might rely on data stored in ._AppleDouble files like the Legacy Mac OS fonts and EPS files, and, if BlueHarvest removes them, the apps in question will be unusable.

To get around this potential problem, users can select particular file types that they want BlueHarvest not to delete, by clicking the “Whitelist” button in the app's Preferences menu.

All things taken into consideration, it is evident that BlueHarvest is a useful app to install on a Mac, but one must be careful and set it up correctly to really help to remove the files that are cluttering and slowing down the system.
