With Apple's new Mac OS X Tiger you can search for files extremely fast via Spotlight. However, one drawback to Spotlight is that it does not search invisible folders and files. So if you wanted to search for a song on your iPod, Spotlight would not return any results. That's where Spodlight comes in.

Spodlight forces Spotlight to index your iPod and make it searchable.

Now when you search in Spotlight, your iPod's music is searchable and you can easily access it (play it, copy it, etc), without a third party program.

One drawback that I've noticed is once you index your iPod with Spodlight, Spotlight will not automatically reindex changes. So maybe in the future I (or someone else, see below) could add automation to the app in the form of AppleScript and/or an Automator plugin.
