Encrypting information that you want to remain private has become a relatively standard practice. Vault 101 is an easy to use macOS application that can help you store information into encrypted vaults.

Vault 101 is sporting a quite straightforward workflow: within the main window you must input the details for the new capsule, and then simply press the "Create" button.

Of course, the processing speed depends greatly on the amount of data you want to encrypt.

If you have registered for a free Vault 101 cloud account, you can also choose to have the capsules automatically uploaded to the servers.

During our test, we have noticed that Vault 101 works properly only if you create vaults for entire folders. If you choose to encrypt single files, Vault 101 will generate the capsule, but you will not be able to open it.

Naturally, all the vaults can be saved to your local disk, but you can also choose to employ the Vault 101 cloud service for easy sharing.

Note that anyone that has the link can download the vault, but they need the password to mount the virtual volume and access its contents.

Via the Vault 101 capsules management console you can get the link for previously generated vaults, or remove them from the cloud server altogether. The links are available only for 48 hours: the service automatically deletes them after that.

Vault 101 enables you to take extra precautions when storing or sharing valuable information: the app quickly creates virtual volumes that are encrypted using the AES-256 algorithm.

The utility optimizes the sharing process by allowing you to employ the Vault 101 cloud service, but you can also store the capsules locally, and choose to distribute them using your own servers.
