Knox is designed to create encrypted vaults that can securely store important files while creating automatic backups.
Moreover, Knox is also able to create vaults on external drives or USB sticks in order to give you the possibility to have your important files on you all the time.
The Knox vaults are encrypted using the U.S. Government's new Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) with 128-bit or 256-bit key length.
Since encrypted disk images are supported in Mac OS X you can open them even if you do not have Knox installed.
To provide quick access to the encrypted files, Knox also supports Spotlight indexing but you can search through the contents only if the vault has been opened.
