XScreenSaver contains standard screensavers that have been released on various operating systems that are able to run the X11 Window System. However, when run on Mac OS X the included screensavers do not require X11 to be installed.

Effortless to install screensaver collection for Mac OS X

The XScreenSaver package includes all the 209 screensavers included in the collection in a separate folder, but also comes with an installer package that reduces the installation procedure to following the on screen instructions.

However, if you want to install only certain item, all you have to do is double click on the screensaver file: the built-in installer will copy the appropriate file to the “Library/Screen Savers” folder in your user account.

Of course, to uninstall the screensavers, simply navigate to the same library folder and mode to the Trash the ones you want to remove.

Personalize your Mac by using vintage styled screensavers

XScreenSaver offers you the possibility to customize your Mac by using retro screensavers that have been released with most Linux and Unix operating systems that were compatible with the X11 Window system.

Since the screensavers collection is quite large (over 200 items featuring different designs), you will probably find one that suits your needs in no time.
