The fact that you can use your built in web server to host a website on your Mac is very useful, except when you are working on multiple projects at the same time. VirtualHostX is a Mac application that helps you create multiple virtual hosts that can be used at the same time.

The best part is that, the first time you launch the application, VirtualHostX makes you backup your web server configuration so, if you encounter any problems, you can simply go back to the initial settings via the VirtualHostX Preferences window.

Compact user interface

Most of the VirtualHostX capabilities are accessible from the app’s main window: here you can set up new hosts, the local path to your website, store domain details, restart Apache, view and toggle the status of the PHP or Perl servers and much more.

Quickly set up and share virtual hosts

To get started, simply create a new virtual host, set up a domain name, navigate to your website’s folder and press the “Share Live Site” or the “Publish Static Site” buttons from the bottom of the main window. However, you must sign up for a “Lift Off” account beforehand.
