DropCopy is a minimalist Mac app that offers you the possibility to send files and folders to other computers in your LAN via a simple drag and drop. The utility stays on your desktop, quickly displays the list of available workstations, and takes care of the transfer with minimal user interaction.

Effortless to install file transfer utility for the LAN

The DropCopy application comes with a small panel that will be placed on your desktop in order to facilitate the file transfers, but you can access most of its functions via the unobtrusive status bar menu. Right of the bat, you must define new destinations by providing the host IP and optionally a nickname for easy identification.

Note that DropCopy is also able to scan the network in order to identify compatible destinations. To detect newly added devices, simply select the “Rescan for Destinations” option from the status bar menu.

Transfer files with drag and drop, or send the content of your clipboard

What’s more, DropCopy offers you the possibility to send messages or the data placed on your clipboard to a computer of your choice (must be a previously defined destination). At the same time, you can choose to get the clipboard content from other workstations.

Via the DropCopy Preferences window you can change the location of the destinations list, the text color in the progress panel, or the machine’s visibility in the Bonjour network. The same area enables you to customize the way in which the app is displayed on your desktop, and more.

Unsophisticated yet highly efficient solution for transferring data on the network

DropCopy is a great tool to have around if you need to move files to different workstations connected to your network. The utility reduces the process to a simple drag and drop, and can also deal with clipboard content.
