iShowU For Mac

iShowU is a small yet extremely efficient OS X application designed to offer you with the tools you need to record your desktop’s activity to a QuickTime compatible movie.

The iShowU utility is also designed to help you effortlessly and rapidly embed the captured audio content within the output movie.

Moreover, iShowU comes with a large collection or recording presets that make it easy and fast to get started in no time, but, as an added advantage, it also enables you to quickly create your own.

From iShowU’s main window, you can speedily adjust both the audio and video settings and it also allows you to toggle certain recording options before starting the actual capturing process (i.e. “Slow capture rate when not moving mouse”, “Show capture guide when not recording”, “Show capture guide when recording” and “Follow mouse cursor”).

The Audio panel helps you choose to record the surrounding environmental sound captured with the help of your Mac’s microphone or the system audio by directly capturing the audio signal and saving it as an audio file on your Mac’s hard drive.

iShowU makes it possible to configure the output capture file’s audio quality, to choose the microphone input, to toggle the microphone monitor and to preview the audio levels before beginning the recording process.

In the Video area you can adjust the frame-rate, the image scale, the video quality, the compression level and the capture size of the resulting recording. As an extra benefit, you can also decide if you want to capture the mouse clicks and if you need a countdown timer to supplement the recording.

IShowU can be used to record only a certain area of your desktop; in order to do that click the “Edit recording area” button and use your mouse or the default hot-keys to make the necessary modifications (you can view the default selections in the Capture menu).

iShowU also provides a collection of built-in keyboard shortcuts for starting/stopping/pausing/resuming the screen capture task, all easily customizable via the Preferences window.
