UMPlayer, short for Universal Media Player, is a self-explanatory Mac OS X application that comes packed with numerous handy features, support for all sort for file formats, as well as a built-in YouTube browser and player.

UMPlayer features well over 270 built-in audio and video codecs, fact that translates in support for almost all existing multimedia formats, from MOV, AVI and XVID to FLV, H.263, MP4, AAC, AC3, OGG, MP3, WAV, WMV, XVID and more.
On top of that, UMPlayer provide a customizable interface, built-in YouTube browser, player and recorder, subtitle and SHOUTcast search engine, as well as localization in more than 35 different languages.

From UMPlayer’s main window, you can easily load your DVD or multimedia file, skim through the video, adjust the sound volume, search clips on YouTube and radio stations on SHOUTcast. The search results are displayed in a new window, from where you can play the video or listen to the station.
The context menu provides access to numerous playback features that you can use to slow down or speed up the video, jump to the desired time point, change the audio or video track, adjust the image, take screenshots, add audio filters, load subtitles, adjust their timing, browse chapters and change UMPlayer’s skin.
Take control over the video and make the necessary adjustments
The Video menu enables you to rotate, mirror or flip the image, visualize the motion vectors, zoom in or out, pan and scan, change the aspect ratio and open the Equalizer. Thanks to the Equalizer, you can adjust the contrast, brightness, hue, saturation and gamma of the image, synchronize the audio and the subtitles with the video and adjust the sound EQ.
By accessing the File Properties window, you can view detailed information about the selected file, such as video resolution, file size, frame rate and more. On top of that, you can manually select another demuxer, video and audio codec to play the file.
