Mesquite is software for evolutionary biology, designed to help biologists analyze comparative data about organisms.
Its emphasis is on phylogenetic analysis, but some of its modules concern population genetics, while others do non-phylogenetic multivariate analysis.
The analyses available are determinad by the modules installed, because Mesquite is modular.
What's new in Mesquite 3.04 Build 725:
- New Features:
- The Pairwise Comparisons calculations have been reformed in various ways, most of which are enhancements, but some are bug fixes.
- Characters with missing data (and other issues, like polymorphisms) can now be handled. The calculation does this by ignoring problem taxa. If taxa have been ignored, there will be a notice in the legend and in the text view of the window. Any taxa with missing or inapplicable state in either the independent or dependent variable are ignored in the calculations. In addition, for specific Pairs Selectors, the following taxa are ignored:
- Pairs Contrasting in State of One Character: a taxon is ignored if its state in the independent variable is polymorphic or uncertain or if it has a state greater than 1 (i.e. is not a binary character), or if its state in the dependent variable is categorical and is polymorphic or uncertain.
