AstroGuider is aimed to help astronomy enthusiasts control and guide their telescope mount with the assistance of their Mac. The utility accommodates you to guide, calibrate and control the telescope manually or by using some automatic functions.

AstroGuider integrates support for a handful of telescope cameras, but it can also be used with both local and remote INDI servers. You must select the camera and guider device you want to control from a minimalist drop down menu, and the utility takes care of the rest.

Once the connection is established, you can preview the captured image, initiate automatic calibration, start guiding the calibration, set a subframe, zoom in and out the preview, set black and white points, or set the graph mode.

AstroGuider also provides support for adjusting the camera exposure duration and generates X and Y difference target graphs. Moreover, the app provides in a separate panel the image histogram.

On the guider device control panel placed on the right side of the AstroGuider main window you get to set the Dec guiding mode (north and south, south only, north only, or disabled), the calibration step value, and the RA or Dec aggressivity, minimum error, and maximum pulse values.

You get to adjust the RA angle, the Dec backlash, and the RA and Dec guiding speeds. Note that you get to set default values for some of these parameters via the AstroGuider Preferences window.

The same area enables you to disable the AstroGuider camera drivers that you are not using, to see the available INDI servers, or to start running your own INDI server.

AstroGuider proves to be a great tool for enthusiast astronomers that want to control their telescope camera and guider from the comfort of their Mac computer.

If you need a helping hand, its development team provides an AstroGuider Getting Started Guide on YouTube which should get you up and going in no time.

What's new in AstroGuider 4.14:
