Yoda For Mac

If you are dealing with a slow internet connection, watching YouTube videos online can prove to be quite problematic. Yoda is a minimalist OS X app that allows you to find content on the YouTube website and download it to your Mac in no time.

Within the Yoda application, you can browse popular YouTube content from various fields, such as music, sports, gaming, education, or news. You can see the videos that are simply popular and currently in the spotlight.

To download a video just click on the respective thumbnail: Yoda will launch a prompting window where you must confirm the name of the output file, and the download location.

Noteworthy is that Yoda is not designed to actually play the YouTube videos: you can only download the content using the MP4 file format and the 1280 × 720 resolution.

The built-in downloader can handle multiple videos at the same time, and allows you to keep track of both active and finished transfers.

However, you must add each video to the queue manually: Yoda cannot automatically send to the download area all the videos in a playlist, for example. Besides, you cannot customize the output format: the app only uses MP4.

The best part about Yoda is the fact that it can download the video files quite fast. Of course, it depends greatly on your bandwidth, but during our test Yoda was able to download 70Mb video files in a matter of seconds.
