Webarcher is a small utility designed to convert the well known Safari webarchive format to the Konqueror war archives or to download HTML pages as war archives.
The benefit of the Konqueror war archive: It is smaller (usually half the size of the Safari archiv format), non-proprietary and can be opened on any operating system, not only the Mac OS!
On the Mac OS Webarcher may be opened in Safari with the small tool SafariWar.
To convert one or more webarchives simply drag and drop one or more archives onto the application icon or onto the image in the application window. Note that all files dragged onto Webarcher must be of type 'webarchive', otherwise the drag is rejected.
There is an option to load complete HTML pages as war archive. Select a valid URL and use the Service menu entry. This URL can resides anywhere either as selected text or Safari addressfield entry.
The URL can be dragged from the Safari address bar directly to the Webarcher window icon also. Or you can select the URL in Firefox and use the Service menu. Note: To use this feature the wget utility have to be installed. wget is not part of the standard installation of Mac OS X. You can get it from MacPorts or Fink.
Requirements:
