LiveNow (formerly known as WatchNow) is a minimalist macOS application that can connect to your Twitch.tv account and allows you to monitor your favorite channels and users from the comfort of your status bar.

The LiveNow app displays notifications when the streams go live, and you can choose to see them in Safari, on the Twitch.tv website in your default web browser, in the VLC app, or in the built-in mini video player.

Upon launch, LiveNow places a small menulet in your status bar and you must login using your Twitch.tv account name. Within the LiveNow main window, you can see the accounts that you are following, the Games section, and your videos stream.

Note that LiveNow does not require any password so you can input virtually any account name, and you will be able to see their stream. Of course, the information that will be displayed is public, and you can also see it on the Twitch.tv website.

Within the LiveNow preferences panel, you can choose the quality of the streaming videos and the output medium. The app can send the live stream to the VLC player, to your Safari web browser, or to your default web browser.

You can also use the built-in mini player that launches a resizable window that you can keep on your desktop. However, since LiveNow does not come with Flash Player support, you will not be able to see or post comments.
