Thunderbird 31.3.0 / 34.0b1 Beta / 36.0a2 Earlybird
Tabbed email browser with a built-in Address Book
To start using Thunderbird you just have to provide your name, email address with the password and Thunderbird automatically checks its database to find the appropriate email settings for your account.
What is more, you can make a personalize email address for you, your business or family and navigate between multiple mail accounts using different tabs.
As expected, all tabs are displayed at the top of the window and their order is automatically saved before quitting the app in order to be restored the next time you launch Thunderbird.
You can quickly and effortlessly add new contacts to your Address Book or import entries from Apple’s Contacts app. You can also add new people to your list by simply clicking on the star icon next to the email address of the sender. By double clicking it, you can add more details like birthday date, photo and additional info.
Streamlined and highly useful chat feature for keeping tabs on your team projects
From Thunderbird’s main window, you can also start real-time conversations with your contacts using different networks. Thunderbird also allows you to search through your archive and received emails to find the information you are looking for.
Also worth mentioning is the fact that the Thunderbird e-mail client also features support for Facebook Chat, Google Talk, IRC, Twitter and XMPP.
Inbuilt attachment reminder
Another useful feature that comes with Thunderbird is the attachment reminder that scans your email for the word attachment and other related words in order to remind you to add an attachment before sending the message.
You can also find and install a wide variety of add-on directly from within Thunderbird without visiting add-ons website. The Add-ons Manager also helps you view ratings, recommendations, descriptions and pictures of the add-ons and make the right choice.
