SuperTube HD is a Mac OS X desktop client for YouTube that comes with almost all important features of the popular video sharing site. The application enables you to log into your account and access your playlists, history, subscriptions and uploaded videos.

A benefit for using SuperTube HD is that it does not require Flash to run, as videos are displayed in the MP4 format on your desktop. The user interface is divided into 2 windows - one for watching and controlling clips and the other for accessing YouTube services and managing your account.

Searching for videos in SuperTube HD is an optimized function. It provides search suggestions and allows you to use the default filters that you find in YouTube (sorted by popularity or time frame, etc.). Moreover, you can also interact with clips through common actions, such as adding to list, sharing, commenting and more.

SuperTube HD provides the same playback experience as the browser version. You can watch movies in any supported resolution and even in full-screen mode. What’s missing, though, is the suggestion results displayed on the right side of the window in YouTube.

Other advantages include ad blocking and floating on top when you want to watch the video and work at the same time. An additional option enables you to copy video links to your clipboard for pasting inside the browser or anywhere else. However, sending clips in your default browser with a click would have been more useful.

Taking everything into consideration, SuperTube HD could come in handy when you want to watch videos or listen to music outside on YouTube the browser. This has its advantages when you need to constantly restart your browser. If you are seeking a simple YouTube client, this might be for you.
