The Spotify music service can be employed with a free account, but your playlist will be periodically interrupted by various adverts.

SpotiFree is an unobtrusive status bar menu app that monitors your Spotify app and automatically mutes the utility while broadcasting ads.

To make use of the SpotiFree capabilities, you must listen to your playlists in the Spotify desktop application.

Within the SpotiFree menu you will be able to see if the service is active, but you can also choose to be notified if an ad is blocked: this way you will always know why the sound has been muted.

For your convenience, the SpotiFree app can run on its own at login, so you will not have to launch it manually when you open the Spotify desktop app. You can decide to hide the status bar icon: to make it visible again you must launch it via the Finder.

SpotiFree offers you the possibility to listen to music using a free Spotify account, without having to actually listed to the ads: the app mutes Spotify when the ad starts, and unmutes the player when the playlist is resumed.

Of course, you can register for a Spotify subscription, and the ads will be removed altogether.
