Simple Mail is a handy Firefox add-on that provides an easy-to-use yet complete POP3 / IMAP / SMTP email client.

When you add an account, you will be able to receive new emails, read and write emails for multiple accounts right from Firefox.

Simple Mail is cross-platform and it works on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.
