RSS Bot For Mac

RSS Bot is a simple Mac app designed to grab new articles for user setup RSS feeds, without disturbing one’s workflow. The utility resides on your status bar, and can show audio and visual notifications when new entries are published: when you want to read them, simply use the menu to open the articles in your default web browser.

When you first launch the RSS Bot application, you will be directed to the app’s Preferences window where you must add your own RSS feeds. RSS Bot features basic feed management tools, and you can even import OPML files.

Noteworthy is that RSS Bot allows you to setup multiple filters for each feed: as a result, you will see notifications only for the new articles that match all the keywords. This way, you can make sure that your RSS Bot menu will include only items that match your interests.

When you select a specific title in the RSS Bot menu, the app automatically sends the URL to your default browser, and removes it from the app’s menu. If you don’t want to read the entries, you can simply hit the “Mark All as Read” button.

Within the RSS Bot Preferences window, you can also make small adjustments: you get to change the notification sound, to toggle the status icon highlight, to establish an auto mark as read interval, or to choose the default RSS reader app.

RSS Bot proved to be an extremely easy to use tool for keeping track of your favorite websites: you get notified about new articles almost instantly, and you can open them in your browser with little to no trouble.

However, RSS Bot does not integrate syncing capabilities between devices, and does not allow you to batch mark as read only specific articles.
