PocketCast For Mac

Pocket Casts is an online service that helps you keep all your podcasts in the same place while enabling you to access your account from any desktop computer via a web browser. Pocket Casts also comes with companion apps for the major mobile platforms: iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.

PocketCast is a minimalist OS X app that allows you to access the Pocket Casts web interface without having to clutter your browser. Note that PocketCast is not an official desktop client for Pocket Casts.

To commence using the PocketCast app, you must begin by providing your Pocket Casts credentials. The service allows you to register for a free account that is limited to a 14 days trial period.

Within the PocketCast main window, you will be able to access the service’s web interface, just like you would do in any browser.

This way, you get to discover and subscribe to new podcasts, see the new releases for your subscriptions, view the episodes that you have started listening to, and your favorite entries.

PocketCast offers you the possibility to read all the related information about any particular podcast or episode, but can also playback the audio content. You get to track the progress via a simple bar, and you have the option to adjust the playback speed and the volume level.

Moreover, PocketCast comes with support for the media keys, so you get to pause or start the playback by pressing the F8 key, go back 30 seconds by hitting F7, and jump forward 30 seconds with the F9 key.

PocketCast is an unofficial desktop client for the Pocket Casts online service that aims to provide an alternative to accessing your account and listening your podcasts subscriptions without having to use a web browser.

Since PocketCast can work with the media keys, you get to use the hotkeys to control the playback even if the app is not frontmost on your screen.
