Create a web server that enables you to share files and folders with others by simply providing a link that can be opened in any web browser. #Web server #File sharing #Share files #Server #Share #Sharing
Sharing files with your colleagues or other users on your network can be rather time-consuming without the proper tools. Papaya is a small app that can quickly start a web server and help you share files or folders with drag and drop.
Papaya automatically starts a web server upon launch, but you need to manually add the files you want to share by dropping them on top of the app’s window. You will be able to see the list of shared files together with their full name and size.
What’s more, Papaya offers you the possibility to organize files by using folders. Note that if you try to share entire folders, Papaya gives you the option to archive them by using the ZIP or TAR standards.
The Papaya app comes with an Info panel where you get to see the link to the shared file and decide if you want other users to view or access the file. The same area enables you to configure an authentication account to restrict the access to the file.
At the same time, when working with images, Papaya can scale the picture on download and also integrates annotation tools: you get to draw graphic objects on top of the image, crop the photo, add blur effects, and so on.
To sum up, Papaya delivers a simple yet efficient solution for sharing files with others: the app starts a web server on your Mac, and you can add files to the server with a drag and drop.
Worth mentioning is that the Papaya project is no longer under development and that you cannot use it on macOS Sierra, even though the last Papaya version still works on El Capitan.
Due to this fact, the developer provides the Papaya app for free, and you can find a license code that fully activates the application on the project’s page.
