Mia for Gmail (formerly known as Notifier Pro for Gmail) is an alternative mail client designed to work with your Gmail accounts. The novelty is represented by the fact that you can manage your email messages via your status bar.

Right off the bat, the Mia for Gmail app launches its Preferences window where you must start by adding the email accounts you want to connect. You have the option to use as many Gmail accounts as you like.

The application prompts for the password in the case of each email account, and you must authorize Mia for Gmail to handle certain data related to your profile. These rights can be quickly revoked via your Google account’s Settings panel.

Mia for Gmail will automatically scan the account for unread messages, and displays a list in the status bar menu. For each message, you get to see details about the sender, the message subject, and a small preview of the content.

The system is great because you can quickly identify the messages that require your attention, and delete the ones that don’t interest you. Since Mia for Gmail places an unread messages counter in the status bar, you are less likely to let things get out of control.

Each email can be opened in a separate window where you can visualize the complete message. Mia for Gmail offers you the possibility to archive or delete the message, but you can also reply or send it forward.
