News Explorer is a RSS reader that offers you the possibility to read the latest articles published on your favorite websites in a clean environment, outside the browser.

The reader streamlines your reading by eliminating all the distractions: the built-in browser displays only the article content. Moreover, News Explorer relies on the Apple’s iCloud to sync your subscription database to all your devices.

Within the News Explorer main window, you can easily add new subscriptions by providing the RSS link, or you can rely on the app’s search subscription function.

The latter option is great of you don’t want to search for the links on your own: just provide a keyword, and the app will go online and display all available feeds. Keep in mind that News Explorer will add to the database only the user selected feeds.

To help you deal with large databases, News Explorer offers you the possibility to keep your subscriptions organized into folders. What’s more, when adding a new feed you have to select the output directory.

By default, News Explorer displays a small description for each article that you get to expand to see the entire post in an easy to read format that only includes the text and the embedded pictures.

However, if you click on the article’s title, News Explorer allows you to see the original page, just like you would do in a browser, but without leaving the application. Note that if you have other Apple devices, such as an iPhone, in the Bluetooth range, you can also continue reading the article on the mobile device.

Naturally, News Explorer integrates all the basic capabilities one would expect from an RSS reader: you can mark items as read or unread, favorite them, share them on social media, filter the entries by different criteria, search for particular subjects, or adjust the text appearance.

News Explorer offers you the possibility to quickly create and organize a news subscriptions database, of you can import the data from other RSS readers by using the OPML format. Similarly, the app can also export the data to OPML if you don’t want to use the iCloud sync.
