Musicbox For Mac

Musicbox is a very easy to use Mac app designed to help you download to your computer audio tracks hosted on popular music sharing websites. Having the media available locally can prove to be a good idea if your internet connection is very slow, or if you want to have offline access to the content.

To be able to download a certain audio file by using Musicbox you must find the listing on your favorite music sharing website, and drag and drop the link on top of the app’s main window or on its Dock icon. The utility will analyze the URL and let you know if it is able to download the track.

At the same time, Musicbox also provides a Safari extension and a Firefox bookmarklet that can be installed optionally in oder to help you send files for download directly from the browser.

By default, Musicbox will export the downloaded audio content to MP3 files, but via the app’s Preferences window you can choose to optimize the files for certain iOS devices (iPad, iPod touch, iPod classic, or Mac listening). Note that you can also use Musicbox to convert files that are already stored on your Mac.

Other customization options include the possibility to adjust the track bitrate, to choose to convert the audio tracks to WAV files, to adjust the number of maximum concurrent downloads, or to decide to have the tracks automatically imported to iTunes.

Musicbox is a great tool to have around if your internet connection is too slow to listen to music online: the app can download the tracks hosted by most popular sharing services, and allows you to convert them to MP3 or WAV files with minimal effort.
