Many users have been switching to Apple products lately, but just because you change your operating system does not mean that you must get a new set of online friends altogether. Mercury Messenger offers you the possibility to keep in touch with your Microsoft Live contacts, from your Mac.
Mercury Messenger is running on the Java Runtime Development so you must make sure you have it installed on your computer before launching Mercury Messenger. Mercury Messenger comes in two flavors: a stable version and a Release Candidate version.
Mercury Messenger does not seem to be under continued development and, unfortunately, the RC release does not work properly: an unknown exception is triggered when trying to log in to an MSN account.
The Mercury Messenger stable release does not have this issue and allows you to login to your account, view your contacts list, chat with friends by text or by using cute emoticons and much more.
Mercury Messenger provides all the basic function that are usually expected when dealing with an instant messaging application. You can easily change your status, add contacts and organize them in groups, send and receive files, share you webcam feed and much more.
From the Mercury Messenger Options panel, the user can easily adjust the account settings and the way in which the contacts or chat information is displayed. The Global settings panel enables you to make further changes when it comes to the app’s look and feel, the webcam settings or the emoticons you want to use.
Mercury Messenger proves to be extremely useful if you want to connect to your MSN account from your Mac computer and communicate with your friends without taking the time to learn how to use a new application: the interface is quite simple and should be very easy to use even by most inexperienced users.
Mercury Messenger 1.9.5 / 2.0 RC7
