McAfee SiteAdvisor is a free browser add-on designed to make sure that you’re protected at all times against any spam, scam or spyware that might crawl within the search results in most major search engines.

Moreover, after your search for something on your favorite search engine (be it Google, Yahoo! or Bing), SiteAdvisor will display a safety rating next to each search results to keep you safe.

SiteAdvisor also integrates McAfee’s trustmark system within your webs browser, which means that it will also protect you against phishing and scam attempts while your shopping online.

Upon installation, the SiteAdvisor extension will add an optional secure search box to your browser designed to prevent you clicking on any unsafe URLs while browsing the web.

McAfee SiteAdvisor also adds a button to the lower right side of Firefox's window that changes accordingly when you move from one website to another.

When using it with Safari, McAfee SiteAdvisor will add its safety monitoring button next to the address field, on the left side, and will provide you with access to all the options available through its Firefox counterpart.

Thus, after clicking on the SiteAdvisor button, you can open the current website's safety rating report, open the extension's preferences dialog and check for the latest version of the add-on.

According to McAfee’s website, their SiteAdvisor suite provides safety results based on site visits performed using test computers designed to check for a wide assortment of annoyances, browser exploits, phishing and scam attempts, as well as download link safety and online affiliations.
