MailTags For Mac

Finding specific messages if you have a large email inbox, or when searching within multiple email accounts, can prove to be time consuming: the query does not always produce relevant results. MailTags is a Mail app plug-in designed to help you attach tags and keywords to any message.

To make sure all the plug-in dependencies are copied to the correct location on your disk, MailTags comes with an installer designed to automate the process. The same utility includes uninstallation capabilities: you need to use them to correctly remove the plug-in from your system.

The MailTags functions can be easily accessed via the contextual menu: you can assign tags and keywords according to project, importance, subject, tickle date and so on. Note that you can choose to see the plug-in panel each time you compose a new email.

The MailTags plug-in behavior can be customized via the Mail.app Preferences window: within a tabbed panel you will be able to decide which mailbox list you want to be visible, automate the tagging for reply messages, or synchronize the OpenMeta tags database with other apps.

You get to create a keywords collection and define multiple projects in order to streamline the tagging process. You can create your own color palette and assign a different color to certain keywords in order to highlight the message importance or urgency. Last but not least, the plug-in is able to send notifications for your events.

MailTags intends to extend the Mail.app capabilities by offering you the possibility to create your own organization system: define your own tags and keywords collection and make use of the additional information when you need to find specific emails.

The plug-in integrates seamlessly within the mail client and you will be able to use its functions without too much hustle (most tools can be included in the contextual menu).
