LiSA For Mac

LiSA is a lightweight macOS application that speaks with a human voice when new email messages arrive in your Mail account’s inbox. Interestingly, LiSA can also tell you who they are from (brother, husband, boss, etc.) based on the names in your Contacts app.

As soon as you have a new email in your inbox, LiSA announces it. The received emails are also stored in the app’s menu bar window, which is accessed by clicking on the small circle icon. This window provides access to all configurable options.

As specified, LiSA is capable of announcing the email sender’s name. It does so by taking the names from your Contacts app, if you’ve inserted the relationship (e.g. lover, sister, etc.), email and name. Thus, the app requires your permission to use your Contacts utility.

LiSA reads the following statement upon receiving a new message: “You have a message from name” or “ You have a reply from your doctor”. If you don’t wish LiSA to read recognize contacts, you can delete the relationship info from the Contacts app.

In addition to names and relationships, LiSA can tell you the current time soon after a new mail arrives. What’s more, you can choose which Mail accounts you want LiSA to check from the menu bar panel.

All things considered, LiSA provides an interesting way of checking who has sent you emails. If you’re easily distracted by the desktop notifications and wish to be notified by a real human voice about your emails, then feel free to try out the application.
