Stay in touch with your friends, family and co-workers
KakaoTalk comes with a user-oriented interface from which you can view your contacts lists, find the desired friend and search for new friends. Although you can view your profile, there is little you can do from within KakaoTalk’s main window.
Beside viewing your friends’ mini profile, you can start to chat with them, check their status, exchange files and emoticons. The Emoticons window offers you instant access to numerous emoticons, which are also organized into different groups.
Manually adjust the transparency level and invite more users to your conversation
The top toolbar from the chat window allows you to adjust the window transparency, disable or enable the built-in notification system, configure the window to float on top of all other apps, invite other friends to the conversation or leave the chat room.
It is worth mentioning, that you are required to be logged in via a mobile device before logging in from the Mac OS X application. Hence, if your account is not activated from an supported mobile device, you cannot use the desktop application.
On top of that, if you “unregister” from a mobile device, your desktop app will automatically log out and, you’ll not be able to login again unless you login from your smartphone first. We also encountered problems when trying to add friends from the desktop app.
Ultimately, we were forced to find and add friends via the mobile app and synchronize the list with the desktop application. Unfortunately, you cannot use KakaoTalk to edit your profile or edit your contacts list in order to remove friends from the list.
Lock KakaoTalk and check your chat history with ease
On the bright side, you can start a conversation on your mobile phone and continue it from your Mac and vice versa. Moreover, you can view your chat history and lock KakaoTalk with a password to prevent unauthorized access.
