Monitoring your Instagram account via the web browser can lead to unnecessary clutter. iTab Pro (formerly InstaTab Pro for Instagram) is a minimalist Mac app designed to help you access your Instagram account via the status bar.

When launching the iTab Pro app, a new icon will be added to your status bar: a simple mouse click will activate a tab window where you can easily access the Instagram website, in mobile or desktop view mode.

Of course, you must start by providing your Instagram’s account credentials: iTab Pro does not preserve the login between sessions, so you will have to perform this action each time you launch the app.

For your convenience, iTab Pro offers you the possibility to activate the status bar panel via a hotkey that can be customized from the Preferences window. You can easily toggle the desktop mode window with a keyboard combination.

iTab Pro refreshes your Instagram timeline periodically and is able to display visual and audio alerts each time a new image is posted. This way, you will navigate to the Instagram website only when there is new content available.

iTab Pro proposes simple solutions for effortlessly accessing your Instagram timeline with minimal effort. However, the app cannot retain your credentials between sessions: since you must relaunch the app to actually switch between different viewing modes, this can be an issue.

Another drawback is the fact that certain panels are not loaded properly while in mobile mode: for example, after you select the “View Profile” option from the user menu you must also press the refresh button from the bottom of the main panel to actually visualize the correct page.
