Horcrux is a simple to use and streamlined OS X utility that automatically backs up mail messages from any IMAP enabled e-mail service (Gmail, Microsoft Exchange, etc).

Horcrux will also enable you to restore the backed up messages to any other e-mail account, while also preserving their folder hierarchy and tags.

Main features:

  • Supports multiple email accounts
  • Add the accounts, set the backup frequency and it'll unobtrusively backup emails in the background
  • Emails can be archived as a ZIP file making your data portable
  • Clever restore process that'll skip already existing emails
  • Stores emails in open format (.eml) which can be opened in clients like Apple Mail
  • Tested with Gmail, Google Apps, Microsoft Exchange
